Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Church Directory ("the Service"), operated by Church Directory ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Church Directory provides churches with a private member directory, daily prayer tool, and name-learning application. The Service is available as a web app (Progressive Web App) and through iOS and Android applications. Access to the full Service requires a paid church subscription set up through an onboarding call with Church Directory.

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by Christian churches and their members who are 18 years of age or older. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and authorized to use the Service on behalf of yourself or your church.

3. Church Accounts and Administrators

A church subscription is set up by a designated church administrator ("Admin") during an onboarding call with Church Directory. The Admin is responsible for:

Ensuring all member data entered into the Service is accurate and up to date
Managing member access, including inviting and removing members
Communicating to congregation members that their information is visible to other members within the app
Ensuring the church's use of the Service complies with these Terms and applicable law
Maintaining the confidentiality of any administrative access credentials

The Admin agrees that they have appropriate authority to enter into this agreement on behalf of their church.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

Church Directory subscriptions are billed monthly based on congregation size:

Under 250 members — $35/month
250–500 members — $45/month
500–1,000 members — $55/month
Over 1,000 members — $75/month

A one-time setup fee of $99 is charged at the start of the first billing period. Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice we send after your onboarding call. Subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' written notice to the church's Admin email address. Continued use of the Service after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

If payment is not received within a reasonable time, we may suspend or terminate access to the Service.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time by emailing info@churchdirectory.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial months. Upon cancellation, church and member data will be removed from our systems within a reasonable period.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation
Harass, threaten, or harm any person
Share member contact information with third parties without consent
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
Use the Service for commercial advertising or solicitation unrelated to church ministry
Upload or transmit malicious code or any content that is unlawful, offensive, or harmful
Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of the Service

7. Member Data and Privacy

Member information within Church Directory (names, photos, contact details, prayer requests) is visible to other authenticated members of the same church. Church admins are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from their congregation members for this sharing.

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with Planning Center to sync church rosters. Your use of Planning Center is subject to Planning Center's Terms of Service. Church Directory is not affiliated with or endorsed by Planning Center.

Subscription billing is processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms. Church Directory does not store your payment card details — these are held securely by Stripe.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and content (excluding church and member data), is owned by Church Directory and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

Church and member data that you or your church enters into the Service remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your data.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHURCH DIRECTORY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Church Directory from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify the church Admin by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties, and if unsuccessful, through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction.
